Cao Yunding was a legend in Chinese football and he passed away on May 22nd at the age of 75. He played for Shanghai Shenhua from 1964 to 1982 and is considered one of the greatest players in the club's history.

Born in Beijing in 1945, Cao began his career with Beijing Guo'an before moving to Shanghai Shenhua in 1964. He spent most of his career with the club and helped them win several titles, including the Chinese Super League four times and the Asian Cup once.

During his time with Shanghai Shenhua, Cao established himself as one of the best defenders in Asia and earned numerous awards,Football Fanatic Zone including the Golden Ball Award, which is given to the best player in Asia. He also won the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Player of the Year award three times.

In addition to his success on the field, Cao was known for his humility and dedication to the game. He always gave everything he had and never complained about his playing time or salary.

Cao retired from professional football in 1982 but continued to be involved with the sport as a coach and manager. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
